What BPC-157 is

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide, meaning a chain of fifteen amino acids. It was originally isolated from human gastric juice, work attributed to Predrag Sikiric in 1993.1

BPC-157 has been studied in animal models of tendon, ligament, muscle, nerve and bone healing.1 It is the single most searched research peptide in Canada, at around 27,100 searches a month.

The honest state of the evidence

A 2025 narrative review of BPC-157 for musculoskeletal healing describes the human evidence as “exceedingly sparse” and identifies only three published human studies.1

So the picture is a substantial animal literature and an almost absent human one. If you’re designing a research model, that asymmetry is more useful to know than any purity figure, and you won’t find it on a competitor’s product page.

Is BPC-157 a steroid?

No. BPC-157 is a peptide, not an anabolic steroid, and the two are different classes of molecule with different structures. Its molecular weight is 1419.5 g/mol. Steroids share a four-ring carbon skeleton; peptides are chains of amino acids.

How to reconstitute BPC-157?
